Eugene School District 4J: Howard Elementary

Howard Elementary School is 79,000sf and was constructed to replace the original facility built in 1949.  The new $32M school was constructed with the environment and long-term maintenance costs in mind, similar to schools that are energy efficient in the region.

Scope: Long-lasting durable building materials, a rainwater collection system, photovoltaic and efficient HVAC systems were installed to provide cost savings to the District.  The district did not pursue LEED certification but the facility received LEED Silver equivalency for their initiatives.
