The OHSU Center for Health & Healing, is a medical building located in Portland’s South Waterfront and connected to the main OHSU Campus (Hill) by Portland Aerial Tram. Of the facility’s 16 floors, eight floors are dedicated to physician practice, surgery, and imaging; three floors house the March Wellness Fitness Center; four are home to education and research facilities; and the ground level contains an optical shop, a pharmacy, and a café.
The facility was built in 2006, took 3 years to complete, and it is a certified LEED New Construction Platinum facility. The goals were to certify the building under LEED Existing Building Operations & Maintenance (LEED EBOM) to bring energy consumption as close to original operational cost projections as possible. Low cost (~$1000) and no cost measures were identified and implemented early, and as a result, they are estimated to save nearly $15,000 per year.
