Project Description: The OHSU Center for Health & Healing is located in Portland’s South Waterfront neighborhood and at the foot of the Portland Aerial Tram. The Center was built in 2006 and certified LEED New Construction Platinum. The owner wanted to certify the building under Existing Building Operations & Maintenance (EBOM) as well as bring energy consumption closer to their original projections. Low cost / no cost measures identified and implemented in this project are estimated to save nearly $15,000 per year with a implementation cost of about $1000, with a payback period of 4 years.
NWESI Scope: Commissioned systems and equipment included building HVAC systems (6 air handlers, 8 exhaust fans, 1 heat recovery unit, 73 sampled terminal units, heat recovery system, chilled water systems, 8 sampled chilled beam / fin tube convectors, heating water system, and radiant slabs), lighting controls, domestic hot water, and rain / groundwater reclaim. NWESI commissioning activities were in support of 10 LEED credits and prerequisites.
